Increasing Your Adsense Earnings

Are you looking at how you can increase your earnings with Adsense? Well, we have a few tips for you. First take a look at how much you have already earned through Adsense. Where does the money come from? There are three ways you can earn money through Adsense. Clickthroughs, Effective CPM and Impressions. Any improvement in any area, preferably in all, will mean you earn more.

Let’s look at Impressions first. This refers to the number of views your web page has had How do you increase this viewership? By increasing traffic to your site. This helps if the traffic that you generate is targeted traffic. Now how can you do that? You can do it by increasing the content on your site to make it more focused and relevant. You can increase the number of links to your web page. You should list your web site in directories and these should be relevant directories. Or, you can set up a directory of sites on your web site and accept reciprocal links that are relevant. Or you could even submit articles which you write to article directories with a link to your site listed in the resource box.

Now let’s take a look at Clickthroughs. This refers to the percentage of the visitors to your site who click on the ads. Now the more relevant ads will obviously get more clicks. So what you have to do make sure your ads are those that will be clicked, is to ensure the content is relevant and to place the ads well on your site. You don’t choose your Adsense ads in your site but you can reel in the better ones with a little tweaking of the content. If your content is filled with references to say, fishing, you can be sure a lot of fishing ads will find their way to your site.

The ideal thing to do would be to get yourself an Adsense Tracker and keep testing till you hit on a winning format. Some swear by the large rectangle format, some feel the ad should merge with the background with the same color. Still others feel that the best place for the Adsense ads is in the center or the top left. Try them all out and keep testing till you know what works best for your web site.

When you measure your average earnings for every thousand clicks, that’s called effective CPM. How can you increase CPM? You can do it by making sure you select topics that bring in higher bids from Adsense advertisers and even creating full web sites and pages on those topics. How do you know which are the higher paying bids? Well, not from Google because it doesn’t give out information like that but you can get a pretty good idea from the Adwords bids or by looking at search engines like Overture. The Internet has many tools to help you find the topics that are high paying and they could be both free and paid.

So now it’s time to take a look at all these parameters and work out a formula that works for you. Here’s a very simple one. First, aim for the best effective CPM by building web sites and pages based on high paying topics. Then make sure you get the best Clickthroughs by effectively placing your Adsense ads. Finally, try and drive targeted traffic to your site so you get the maximum impressions.
